Baby, Its Cold Outside – And Dark! – Travel

Baby, Its Cold Outside - And Dark!
William Wittmann

Seattle and the Puget Sound is the most sun starved metropolitan area in the US with the exception of Anchorage, Alaska, who wins the award by a rain drop. Puget Sound is renowned for having weeks on end where it rains every day. We sometimes dont even see the sun for days.
Surely, where you live has more sun, but you would probably enjoy a trip to the Caribbean and beyond as much as we would.
I gain relief by watching warm weather movies. These films promote the illusion of warm weather and serve as a reminder of times to come.
In order to be included on the list, the location has to play a role. That location needs to be sunny and pleasant, which isnt too hard to accomplish.
Additionally, to make the list they have to be good movies defined as ones I am willing to view repeatedly. This is much harder to accomplish.
In no particular order, this is my private reserve of movie titles.

Pirates of the Caribbean
Room with a View
Much Ado About Nothing
My House in Umbria
French Kiss
Enchanted April
Under the Tuscan Sun

Here is a list sent in by readers, again in no praticular order.

Stealing Beauty
Lawrence of Arabia
The Sheltering Sky
Thelma and Louise!
English Patient
Juliet of the Spirits
Black Stallion
Shirley Valentine

Satellite TV – Home

Satellite TV
Teddy Low

Here is some information about satellite TV.

Satellite television or satellite TV is television delivered by way of orbiting communications satellites located 37,000 km above the earths surface.

The first satellite TV signal was relayed from Europe to the Telstar satellite over North America in 1962. The first domestic North American satellite to carry television was Canadas Anik 1, which was launched in 1973.

Satellite TV, like other communications relayed by satellite, starts with a transmitting satellite antenna located at an uplink facility. Uplink satellite dishes are directed toward the satellite that its signals will be transmitted to, and are very large, as much as 9 to 12 meters 30 to 40 feet in diameter. The larger the satellite dish, the more accurate positioning and improved signal reception at the satellite. The satellite TV signals is transmitted to devices located on-board the satellite called transponders, which retransmit the satellite signal back towards the Earth at a different frequency.

The satellite signal, quite weak after traveling through space, is collected by a parabolic receiving dish, which reflects the weak signal to the dishs focal point and is received, down-converted to a lower frequency band and amplified by a device called a low-noise block down converter, or LNB.

A new form of satellite antenna, which does not use a directed parabolic dish and can be used on a mobile platform such as a vehicle, was recently announced by the University of Waterloo. On commonly known as car satellite system.

The satellite TV signal, now amplified, travels to a satellite TV receiver box through coaxial cable RG-6 or RG-10; cannot be standard RG-59 and is converted by a local oscillator to the L-band range of frequencies approximately. Special on-board electronics in the receiver box help tune the signal and then convert it to a frequency that a standard television can use.

As you known, satellite TV business in United States are mainly dominated by two companies, Dish Network and DirecTV. If you would like to have a satellite TV in your home, your choices are mostly limited to the free satellite TV packages that offered by either one Dish Network or DirecTV.

How To Use RSS Feeds In Your Marketing – Domain Name

How To Use RSS Feeds In Your Marketing
Dr. Mani Sivasubramanian

It was Friday night. I finished reading a book about RSS feeds. Quickly set up one for my site, submitted it on directories and went to bed.
Sunday morning, I noticed a sale. Idly, I scanned my logs to see where the buyer had found me.
It was from Yahoo! Now that may not seem surprising, except... I had not been listed in Yahoo! before.
Curious, I did a Yahoo! Search for my domain name... and almost fainted in shock! There were 123 of my pages listed - many of them in the top 10 ranks on my best keywords.
My RSS feed had been listed within 48 hours - and since my other pages were linked from it, they had all been indexed by Yahoo! just as quickly. And for free!
Since then I have heard many others share similar experiences. It is no fluke. RSS is H-O-T. And search engines LOVE it.
So what is RSS An acronym for Really Simple Syndication, it is a web language format designed to help syndicate content across different sources.
RSS has been around for more than 10 years but has only recently become popular. RSS feeds provide headlines and summaries of information in a concise and standardized way.
The rise in RSS popularity, specially among marketers, has many reasons. Email filters and new legislation have lowered the effectiveness of email marketing. Content syndication in many different ways is gathering momentum. And fresh, frequently updated content is the very essence of the Web.
How can you use RSS feeds in your marketing Is there a way to turn RSS feeds into profits
Absolutely. Here are some ideas:

Beat email filters. Ask your subscribers, prospects and clients to sign up to your RSS feed along with your email newsletter. If the ezine gets blocked, theyll still get your RSS feed.
Spread the word. Offer your new, valuable content to many other lazy website owners - in return for getting extra exposure of your name and brand to their audiences.
Get listed on search engines. No one knows how long this honeymoon will last. But ride the wave - and get into search engines quickly, inexpensively - by submitting your RSS feeds to them.
Use the first-mover advantage. Dedicated RSS directories are mushrooming. Make sure your RSS feed is indexed in them and you could future-proof your business. Imagine if you were one of the first sites to be indexed in Google or Yahoo 5 years ago!
Offer your readers new content. Keep creating your own content - but also use RSS feed syndication to offer other peoples content to your list. Less pain, less strain, more gain.

And thats not all. On a bet, I sat down and listed 41 different ideas to profit from RSS feeds. Im sure you can do it too - and turn the hot new revolution in online communication into a money magnet for your ebusiness.
Happy blogging.
