Clean Slates and Fresh Starts
Patricia Gatto

Hope, excitement and anxiety all wrapped up in fresh haircuts and new clothes. Pens, pencils and notebooks, the smell of a new box of crayons and a brand new book; it all speaks of such promise.
Its the first week of school and everyone starts with an "A". Children are on their best behavior as they cautiously gauge their new surrounding. But once those first days fade and familiarity takes shape, the playing ground is no longer even. A pecking order becomes evident as cliques form and personalities emerge. And it is this pecking order that can make children unintentionally cruel to each other.
If I could bottle up a time, it would be the first week of school. Every child, for at least those first few days, has a new beginning, a fresh start and is on his or her best behavior. If I could capture the essence that lingers in the air and label it "open when necessary," it would be an invaluable gift.
It is easy to overlook the suffering of others, especially when maturity and compassion have not yet developed. But as an adult, if you knew your child was taunting and teasing another classmate, would you ignore the situation and chalk it up to "kids will be kids," or take the time to correct the situation
Maybe the little girl in the front row cant concentrate on her schoolwork because her parents are fighting. And the boy in the corner is withdrawn and tired because he spends his nights taking care of an alcoholic parent. Or maybe the overweight girl they laugh at is using food to bury her secrets and sorrows.
Although the harsh realities of social injustice are too heavy for a young child to comprehend, it is never too early to encourage empathy and compassion. If your child is quick to tease or judge, remind him that making fun of others is never cool. Ask him to put himself in the other childs shoes and just try to imagine how it would feel if someone made fun of him.
Remind your child about the first day of school when the slate was clean and everyone started with an "A". And encourage him to reach out and give his classmate another chance as if he held a magical bottle marked "open when necessary" filled with fresh starts and good behavior.

Adem Martin del Campo

Brushes are often overlooked. We use them then simply throw them back in our make-up case not caring much for the condition we leave them. This is usually the reason why the brushes we buy do not last as long as we hoped for. Armandos Brushes last a long time because they are made with sable bristles and even with the use of high-quality materials, Armandos Brushes would not last much longer than lower quality brushes without the proper care.
So what is proper brush care and what are the benefits it will give you besides longevity When applying your make-up, your brushes mix with your cosmetics as well as the oils on your skin. Over time, this could cause the bristles of the brush to clump together causing your make-up application to not go as smoothly as you would like. That fine line you like for your eyeliner may not be obtainable with a dirty brush. Not caring for your brushes may also cause different shadows to mix together in your brush creating a color that you never intended on using!
Okay, so now you know what happens when we dont care for our brushes. So how do we clean them
To clean your brushes, run them under tepid water. Always hold the brush under the water with the handle pointing up so as not to damage the brush. Add a small amount of mild shampoo to your index finger then emulsify by rubbing your index finger and thumb together. Gently squeeze the shampoo into your brush. Rinse your fingers and brush. When thoroughly rinsed, gently wring out the remaining moisture from the brush while forming the bristles and set on a towel to dry.
With these simple steps, you could be another of Armandos customers whose brushes last them over twenty years! Just think of the money you will save!

When one thinks of the many factors that affect the look of a room, most people think only of the paint and furniture. In doing so, they overlook the most important factor: Lighting. Without the proper interior lighting, most rooms will lose any ambience that the owner intended. For example, a room with too bright lights might make the room look harsh. A room with too dark lights might make a room appear gloomy. Many new homeowner have been disappointed when their carefully contrived plans for a room just doesn

Re-Define What "Clean" Means for You and Your Home plus articles and information on home

Re-Define What "Clean" Means for You and Your Home
Dwight Griggs

Theres an old saying - A person doesnt buy a drill because they want a drill. They buy the drill because they want a hole. The same is true for vacuum cleaners. A person only buys a vacuum cleaner because they want their home to be clean. They care about getting rid of dirt and airborne irritants - even if theyre too small to be seen. The measure of a vacuum cleaner is the quality of "clean" it delivers.

Time to bring Old-fashioned Notions about Cleaning up to Date

Not that long ago, most women still worked at home as full-time homemakers. Cleaning was hard work. Todays fast-paced reality is very different. Most people are not willing to work that hard on housework. We have other priorities and demands on our time. Sure, we still want a clean home, but without such time-consuming drudgery.

Our Expectations for Air Quality are Higher than they Used to be

Its not just the dirt you see that needs to be eliminated. Old-fashioned vacuums sucked up the dirt, but stirred it up as well. Those airborne particles interfered with breathing or settled elsewhere. Also, the cloth or paper bags got saturated with dust, so equipment wouldnt function efficiently.

Widespread concerns about allergies, asthma and other respiratory problems have made people more sensitive to the purity of the air we breathe. Dust and mold threaten the health of family members. So getting the irritating particles out of the air is important.

Technology to the Rescue - The HEPA Standard

Pollen, pet dander, tobacco smoke, mold and dust are too small to look like dirt, but theyre the major challenge to any vacuum cleaner. One that most fail. HEPA is an official standard established by OSHA Occupational Health and Safety Administration. HEPA certified means a filter removes 99.97% of particulates 0.3 microns or larger in size. Thats about one-hundredth the size captured by most vacuum cleaners. HEPA stands for "High Efficiency Particulate Air"

A conventional vacuum cleaner only removes particulates down to about 35 microns. Particles below 10 microns are invisible to the human eye. The most common airborne particle size is 2.4 microns. How big is a particulate 0.3 microns in size

Consider these size comparisons:

	Human hair: 60 - 80 microns

	Pollen: 10 - 40 microns

	Bacteria: 0.3 - 50 microns

	Mold: 4+ microns

	Dust mite waste: 10 - 24 microns

Even if asthma and allergies arent major problems for you, whod want to breathe that stuff

A HEPA Filter is Not Enough

Many vacuum cleaners claim to be HEPA certified because they use HEPA filters. However, unless the whole vacuum is sealed, the collected particulates can easily be released back into the room. The first vacuum cleaner not just the filter to be HEPA certified is the Miele. It has redefined how much "clean" vacuuming can deliver.

Miele isnt a brand thats well known in the US. But in Europe it has represented the best of German precision engineering and innovation for 100 years. Their engineers continuously rethink how people live, work and clean their homes, as they pursue their mandate, "Forever Better." The Miele http://tinyurl.com/6urc3 is the Porsche of vacuum cleaners - the finest standard for quality and clean.

Bringing Together Tradition and Technology

Tradition coupled with excellence permitted Miele to elevate the vacuuming experience. Griggs Vacuums http://www.griggsvacuums.com supports those priorities as well. Were a third-generation, family-owned, customer-oriented operation. Although were no longer only "down the road," we act like we are. The Internet allows us to serve a global marketplace, but we still operate with the same priorities and customer-pleasing policies as weve done for 22 years.

This article is one of a series on redefining "clean." Read them all on our website.

Jeffrey Broobin

The three major credit bureaus, Experian, Equifax and Trans Union are similar and feature a "Credit Score", which is created from credit report data submitted to them about you.
But very often your credit report includes inaccurate, wrong or incomplete information credit records.
In this situation you have to prepare and send letters to each of the credit bureaus. Also learn your credit rights by familiarizing yourself with the Fair Credit Reporting Act FCRA.
The FCRA gives you the right to dispute inaccuracies or omissions, and it requires credit bureaus to investigate your complaint generally within 30 days, send you a prompt response and correct any errors. The law also requires the source of inaccurate information such as a bank to correct the record at the credit bureaus to which it initially provided the erroneous information.
Consumers working on their credit reports say many times their letters are ignored by the credit bureaus. Consumer
