So Whats Your Argument – Marketing
So Whats Your Argument
Ken Nadreau
Arguments arent always bad things. Sometimes Theyre used to convince someone of an important point they may not yet realize.
Youve probably used arguments in this way most of your life in fact!
Maybe you wanted to go somewhere and had to convince your parents that is was a good idea to let you go. So you argued your position with them.
Maybe you wanted to buy a big ticket item and had to argue the value of buying it with your spouse!
Arguments dont necessarily have to be shouting matches. They can simply be a device used to convince someone of something that you feel is important.
Its funny then, how so few sales people use the art of arguing to sell their products. Wouldnt a person who wants someone to buy something from them want to try and convince that one that itd be a good idea
Maybe its because its not such a good idea
Could be why so many sales pitches are designed to connive potential customers into buying rather than giving them a convincing argument instead.
Lets face it . . .
Whod want to argue a losing point
After all, if a product is of little value, who in their right mind would want to take the position of trying to convince someone it had value
Maybe thats why so few try to convince rather than connive!
But what is the difference between convincing and conniving anyway
A conniver is like the person in a movie or TV show thats holding something they probably shouldnt be. Suddenly, a cop pulls up and he quickly passes the object to the person next to him with the words, "Here, take this quick!"
The poor unsuspecting by-stander is "left holding the bag", and doesnt know what hit him as hes dragged off to the pokey.
So, to put it simply . . .
A conniver is the person who tries to get you to do something without thinking about it. He creates a sense of urgency and force feeds it to you before you can say no.
Now a convincer is quite the opposite. He wants you to know what youre getting into and is willing to spend the time going over it with you. He has a valid argument and has no qualms about letting you hear it.
So, by the time he hands you the "bag", you know exactly whats in it, and youve been able to make a rational decision about whether you want to "hold" it or not.
This leaves us with two important questions . . .
If youre searching the Internet looking for product to buy, who would you rather run into
If youre trying to sell valuable products on the Internet, which of the above two do you think you should be
Hopefully, the argument is clear!

Whats Wrong With My Website – Web
Whats Wrong With My Website
Michael Southon
I ask myself that question about once a month. My website looks fine to me, but what are other people seeing And what are the Search Engines seeing Heres a checklist of 10 ways to optimize your website for peak performance:
1. Browser Compatibility
The first thing is to look at your website through other peoples browsers. I do this regularly and Ive sometimes been shocked at what I saw!
ANYBROWSER http://www.anybrowser.com
2. Broken Links
About 5% of all links on the Internet are broken. A site that contains broken links gives a bad impression to visitors and is a frequent cause of lost sales. Also, the major Search Engines and Directories will not list your page if it contains any broken links or missing images.
Here are some free link validators:

3. Web Safe Colors
Are the colors on your web site displaying properly on other peoples browsers You may have a beautiful shade of lilac on your index page but it could look very strange on someone elses computer.
There are only 216 colors that you can safely use on the Web. These colors display solid and consistent on any computer monitor or web browser that is able to display at least 8-bit color.
The Web Safe Palette contains six groups of colors with 36 colors per group. These 216 web safe colors can have any combination of the following RGB Red Green Blue values: 0, 51, 102, 153, 204, 255 each RGB value must be divisible by 51.
Heres a good palette of web safe colors:

4. ALT Tags
ALT Tags allow you to give an alternative to people who have the view images function turned off in their browser. Lets say the navigation system on your website is a series of buttons that link to other pages on your site. If you dont have ALT Tags, people who have the view images function turned off will be unable to navigate through your site - in place of your button they will just see an empty space.
But an ALT Tag allows you to tell those people what that button does. For example, if the button is a link to your Site Map you could insert the following ALT Tag:
ALT Tags also allow you to raise your keyword density. For every image that is not hyperlinked you could insert your main keywords. For example:
5. Meta Tags
Meta Tags are so important they deserve a whole article on their own. The most important Meta Tags are the Title Tag, the Keywords Tag and the Description Tag.
The Title Tag should be no more than 64 characters longer than that and it will be cut off in some Search Engines.
The Keyword Tag should contain about 5 to 10 keywords that appear on your page. Never include words that do not appear on that page - in some Search Engines your website will be penalized for this. Do not repeat the same keyword - this is called keyword stuffing and is also frowned upon by the Search Engines.
Separate your keywords with spaces not commas. This allows the Search Engines to combine your keywords into phrases, for people who do phrase searching.
The Description Tag should be no more than 200 characters. Include as many of your keywords as you can. Remember also that your Description Tag must be enticing - it mu
Online Marketing Law! Whats Happening – Web
Online Marketing Law! Whats Happening
Charles Nixon III
You read that right. Theres a new law in California for online marketing. This law is thanks to the Californias Online Privacy Protection Act.
Who does this affect the most This affects anyone online selling anything, operating a newsletter, or collecting data in any way from users online.
It says its targeting "commercial," and websites that offer services online. Are you selling anythign online If not, than this doesnt affect you... yet. It will affect you when you decide to start selling something online. So read up.
If you are a web host, broadcast, or database firm you are only responsible for your privacy policy. You are not held responsible for anyone that you are hosting under you. But do inform them of this new law.
What do you have to do You have to that the information you collect online from visitors matches up with your privacy policy. This means that you will have to be reading and reviewing your policy often to make sure that you dont come across any problems with users and how you use the information you are given.
You will also have to make that privacy policy link more visible. Cause if the users cant see it or find it than to them it most likely doesnt exhist. So no more of those fine print privacy policy notes at the bottom of websites.
How long do I have The law is in motion now. It started July 1st, 2004. You should look into moving that privacy policy link up with the rest of your links.
How do I read more about this law I have a copy of the PDF on my website available for you to download: http://www.charlesnixon.com/ab_68_bill_20031012_chaptered
or you can download it at www.leginfo.ca.gov: http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/pub/bill/asm/ab_0051-0100/ ab_68_bill_20031012_chaptered.pdf
